What is the only way to protect themselves from unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases? Condom!

Do you know that if condom is used correctly during vaginal, anal or oral sex it protects against sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and it is effective at 98% in preventing pregnancy?

The first time you use it you should read carefully instructions contained in the package. They are a few lines, and there are even pictures.

Do you know how to use it?

It must be worn from the beginning to the end of any type of sexual intercourse (vaginal, anal, oral) and for its entire duration. Even a single unprotected intercourse could be a cause of transmission of infection and in the case of  vaginal sex of an unplanned pregnancy.

The condom should be unrolled on the erect penis, you must be careful in don’t damage it with fingernails or rings. A scratch would make it unnecessary to use.

It’s possible that a condom breaks during sex. In this case, you may need emergency contraception and make medical investigations to see if there was infection with sexually transmitted diseases.

Condom can be used only once, it must be stored carefully (high temperatures can damage it) and you should not use an expired condom. We recommend, therefore, to always check the expiration date and the presence of CE mark on the package.

Condom is sold without a prescription, in pharmacies, supermarkets and vending machines. Do not be afraid to buy it and not feel judged: use it always!

Do you know that there is also a condom for women?

Female condom is an effective barrier to both unwanted pregnancies and against sexually transmitted diseases, however, it is marketed only recently in our country. As it regards oral sex, when is the woman who receives, it is good to use the DAM, a protective barrier, also made of latex, which protects from possible infections or a traditional condom cut horizontally.
