How long after the contagion does Genital Herpes appear?

Genital herpes symptoms appear usually after 4 to 7 days after infection. After infection and the first manifestations (primary infection), the virus remains in the body and hides for long periods (weeks, months, even years). When it occurs again (relapse), generally it does in the same area of the genital first time, even if the symptoms are generally shorter and less serious than the first infection. Relapses are favored by stress, fever, violent exposure to the sun, menstruation or in case of lower immune response.
