How is syphilis transmitted?

Syphilis is transmitted as a result of unprotected sex (genital, oral or anal). Syphilis can be transmitted already in its first stage, through contact with infected wounds and ulcers on the body. In several cases it may happen when the person is not aware of being affected with syphilis. For this reason is important use always a condom during sex.
