You only need to do a blood test! There are hospitals in which you can do anonymously and for free testing. The diagnosis is made by searching in the blood sample, the antibodies that the body develops as a result of contact with the HIV virus. These antibodies aren’t able to fight the virus, but it highlights the presence of the virus in the body. These antibodies develop during a period that can range from one to three months and in rare cases even six months after intercourse at risk. This period of time is called window period. During this stage the organism is infected but may not have yet developed antibodies. In this case the test is negative, but the person is infected, and so the test in this case isn’t correct. In fact during the window period the virus is active and the person can infect others. To be certain of a negative test, you need to repeat the test after the window period.
