HIV: what are the consequences?

HIV is the human immunodeficiency virus, responsible for AIDS. What happens when it invades the body? This virus inhibits the lymphocytes and the benches blood cells, weakening the entire immune system. The acquired immunodeficiency syndrome develops when the body doesn’t react to pathogens.  So individual develops diseases the body is able to keep under control under normal conditions. It’s a syndrome because it is a set of events that can be traced to the same cause.

Why is it important to know if you are HIV-positive? Early diagnosis of HIV status led to treatment able to contain HIV and its effects. Currently available drugs, in fact, make possible the inhibition of the virus effects and the manifestation of the disease.
