What is the difference between HIV and AIDS?

0

Being HIV positive doesn’t mean being HIV-AIDS patients. HIV is the human immunodeficiency virus that causes Aids, that is, the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. The HIV characteristic is to attack the immune system causing progressive deterioration of the defenses, so debilitating the body. If not treated, HIV causes a weakening of the immune system, such as to expose it to common diseases which cause serious consequences because the body is unable to combat them. For this reason early diagnosis of HIV seropositivity is very important. There are specific drugs which are capable of inhibiting the incidence of the virus and delay, also of many years, the manifestation of AIDS.
